Race Equality Week, 6 to 12 February 2023, is an annual UK-wide movement, organised by Race Equality Matters, uniting thousands of organisations and individuals to address the barriers on race equality in the workplace.

Studies have confirmed that around three-quarters of ethnic minorities experience racism in the workplace, especially in the security industry. In April 2015 the SIA completed research on gender, ethnic minorities, and disabilities. They independently conducted research comparing the private security industry with such other industries as passenger transport, construction, and the police on levels of equality and diversity.
There is a perception that those with physical disabilities are hardly represented (1-2%) despite only the door supervisor role requiring physical intervention training.
SIA licence holders from ethnic communities believe that they are frequently placed in less attractive or more dangerous roles than their white British colleagues. For example, lone worker guarding roles at construction or transport sites.

Cava Security Services Ltd is committed to promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion across all our workforce and stakeholders. Over the several years now we have encouraged all of our front-line staff to continue and refresh their annual training in Equality and Diversity and unconscious bias training. Cava Security Services Policies relate to ED&I from Religious Observance Policy, ED&I Policy, Recruitment Policy, Equal Opportunities Policy, Staff Development Training policy, and None Harassment Policy. They are all inclusive of Equality Act 2010. Cava Security seeks to continuously improve its policies and attract staff from all nine protected characteristics.

There are several different activities for colleagues to engage with each day of the week-long event to help your employees reflect and, more importantly, take action to drive race equality. The week will also feature several virtual events to create an open discussion with our staff from various sectors to help create real change.
